Mendham Township Elementary Principal Job Posting from the Star-Ledger (NJ.com)

Posted by: Roxy - Print This Post Print This Post

As Mendham Township School Board President Mark Ford discussed at last week’s HSA meeting, the recruitment ad for our new principal was posted in the Star-Ledger and on NJ.com.  The job description is pretty basic, but it doesn’t really get to the heart of what we are really hoping for in a new principal for our children’s elementary school:

“MENDHAM TOWNSHIP Elementary School PRINCIPAL 2008-2009 Morris County School District PreK-4 Elementary School. Knowledge & experience in elementary school program development, scheduling, curriculum & instructional supervision required. NJ Principal certification, teaching & building level admin experience are required. Proven curriculum development required. Thorough understanding of balanced literacy and its implementation. Community-oriented leader.

Send letter and resume by November 25, 2008 to Mendham Township Board of Education Superintendent, P.O. Box 510, Brookside, NJ 07926 AA/EOE.”

Our new Superintendent Kristopher Harrison starts next Monday, November 17th, and he and the Mendham Townhip School Board will know by the following week what the field of candidates for the next MTES Pricipal looks like.  As a note to the Mendham Township Elementary School Principal candidates considering a move to our school district, it’s a terrific opportunity for a young, bright, energetic leader. While parents here have to accept that the best educators see our district as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, our children will benefit from an enthusiastic principal working to implement best practices so that Mendham Township stands out as a blue ribbon school district.  You’ll find a community of enthusiastic students and teachers, supported by parents who are actively involved in their children’s education and who are willing to commit the time and tax dollars to improving our school district’s academic reputation.

In closing, I’d like to reiterate my invitation to local parents to comment here, creating a forum for discussion of the Mendham Township Schools.  While my work and family life is going to be hectic through Thanksgiving, I’m going to try to make it to the next School Board “work session” scheduled for Tuesday, November 18th, as well as the “regular meeting” on Tuesday, November 25th.  If other parents plan to attend, your comments and input here are greatly appreciated.
